From Paper to Data:
Our New W/H CAD Enables
a Revolution in Design Style
and Expands Potential
Conventional W/H (wire harness) design work requires a significant amount of lead time and man-hours. In addition, it faces problems in that it involves a lot of rework because errors are likely to occur as a result of using paper specification sheets to check and transcribe.
In contrast, our new W/H CAD automates wiring design and improves efficiency through a data-based approach to checking. Data flows also ensure consistency between the preceding and following processes. Introducing our new W/H CAD therefore allows designers to focus on more creative tasks.

Three On-site Support Services for Applying Our New W/H CAD

When introducing our new W/H CAD, we provide support for seamless design work by responding to inquiries from designers and by coordinating with stakeholders. Moreover, we also take charge of communicating requests to tool vendors and of process reviews. We also engage directly with foreign vendors. In addition, we prepare drawings based on the details indicated by your designers. Through these support services, we consider cross-training to achieve efficient, detailed design work.
1. Design Assistance
The design site can be broadly classified into four processes.
- (1) Design (Review)
- (2) Design (Work)
- (3) Tool deployment
- (4) Tool development
Among these four processes, we conventionally took charge of tool deployment (3) and tool development (4) in support of design work. However, we now plan to offer support services for design (work) (2) as well. These new services will allow designers to focus on the critical design (review) (1) process, thereby reducing the burden on the design site and promoting the standard use of tools.
While designers will be able to focus on design reviews on the one hand, we will support efficient design work. When we take charge of tool deployment and development based on our expertise, you can expect to see higher productivity and less effort required by the design site.
In addition, you can easily introduce new tools and understand their usability, thereby establishing a consistent design process that can be expected to improve efficiency and quality.

2. Development
We also develop plug-ins for our new W/H CAD. By developing plug-ins tailored to the needs of your design site, we expand the capabilities of our new W/H CAD and deliver a variety of benefits, such as task automation and greater design efficiency, thereby increasing the value of tools.
Plug-in development also strengthens cooperation with other divisions and locations within the Toyota Group. This is expected to facilitate data sharing and collaboration.

3. Maintenance and Operations
We actively support the maintenance and operations of our new W/H CAD, and promote the standard use of tools. We will take charge of every aspect of quality assurance for infrastructure and products, serve as the contact for problems, and handle a variety of other areas for you, thereby reducing the burden on your design site.
We have also established a system for promptly responding to customer needs by creating mechanisms to ensure efficient solutions and responses. In addition, we realize higher quality support services through the accumulation of know-how and the direct engagement with overseas members.
Aspiring to a Driver of Transformation by Serving as a Bridge Between Design and IT

We rapidly discover the latest technologies, including our new W/H CAD, in aims of delivering new technologies to and of achieving digital transformation (DX) for the entire Toyota Group. And we support sustainable growth by providing new value through DX, and by maintaining and ensuring the standard use of tools.
For this reason, we emphasize a rapid approach with a good balance between design expertise and IT skills. By leveraging both areas of expertise, we are able to discover flexible approaches to achieving goals while avoiding conflict between design and IT.
The IT industry is forever evolving at a rapid pace, and it is therefore important to keep up with the most recent information. However, even the latest skills become meaningless if they cannot be applied for use at design sites. We are therefore committed to providing the most up-to-date information at all times, and to helping you ensure that these skills are applied seamlessly at your design site. Even as we incorporate the latest technologies, we offer flexible support that meets the needs of your design site in order to prevent these skills from becoming obsolete.
We are committed to enhancing our expertise in aims of working more effectively. And we will support sustainable growth by promoting DX throughout the Toyota Group based on the latest technologies, all while reducing the burden on design sites.
